Honest about where we are

We are not on the course. The route runs from Hopkinton to Boylston Street, and our apartments are in Dorchester and Hyde Park — you will travel in to watch, as most of the city does.

What we are is a base with a door that locks, on a weekend when Boston genuinely runs out of rooms. Marathon weekend fills the city the way graduation does, and the rooms nearest the finish are the first to go.

If you are running, what matters the night before is a kitchen you control and a bed in a quiet room. If you are supporting a runner, what matters is parking and space for everyone who came to cheer.

For the people who came to watch

A cheering squad is usually more people than a hotel room holds — parents, a partner, a couple of friends, somebody's kids. One apartment holds all of them, with a kitchen for the early breakfast nobody else is serving at that hour.

Afterwards there is a bath, a washer and dryer, and somewhere to put the foil blanket and the wet kit. Race day ends with a great deal of laundry and a great many tired people, and both are easier in an apartment than in a lobby.

April in Boston can be sun or sleet, so real heating and space to dry things out is not a small thing.

Book earlier than feels necessary

Marathon weekend is not a normal April weekend. It is a Monday race, which means people arrive Friday or Saturday and leave Tuesday — a four or five night booking on a weekend the whole city is already full. The rooms closest to the finish go first and they go early.

We are a fifteen-apartment operation, not a hotel with a hundred rooms held back for late bookers. When our larger apartments are gone for that weekend, they are gone.

A few things worth settling when you book rather than the week before: how many people are actually coming to watch, whether you want one big apartment or two smaller ones near each other, and whether anyone is driving — because the free parking is one of the few things about race weekend that does not get harder the longer you leave it.

Common questions

Can a team or family group stay together?
The whole apartment, to yourself. Your own front door, your own kitchen, your own laundry - no shared hallways, no front desk, nobody else in the property.
Is parking free on Marathon weekend?
Yes. Every apartment has its own free off-street parking, so you are not paying a garage on top of the stay and you are not circling for a space when you arrive.
Can we cook our own meals before the race?
Yes. Every apartment has a full kitchen, which matters the night before a marathon when you want your own food rather than a restaurant.
